Ever shopped online or in a catalog for jewelry and wondered what the description was referring to? Well, here’s my personal cheat sheet! Click on a picture to see it in fuller detail. Let me know if you’d like more explanations or descriptions.
Pearl/Mother of Pearl (this piece has tiny pearls as well as larger pieces of mother of pearl)
Multi-strand (can be 2 to a bazillion strands)
Stretch bracelet (the amount of stretch is usually not given)
Crystal/rhinestone (rhinestones are the smaller ones & the crystals are the large ones at the bottom)
Toggle. One end is a stick, the other is a circle-usually 2 circles. There are 2 circles so you can use the first or second (or both if you want to be sure it won’t fall off). Toggles aren’t my favorite because they’re prone to falling off, so I don’t sell many of them.
Bib or cascading necklace
Abalone (some jewelers call this mother or pearl-depends on who you’re talking to)
Cuff bracelet, C bracelet (shaped like a “C”. May or may not have an extender chain)
Fold over clasp
Bangle bracelet (no seams or hinges, just stick your hand in it)
